Attorney Alyssa J. Thompson
Alyssa J. Thompson. A native of Russell, Kentucky, Alyssa J. Thompson has always been committed to serving her community. After graduating from Russell High School in 2011, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Transylvania University in 2015 and her Juris Doctor from Northern Kentucky University’s Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 2018.
She began her career as an Assistant Prosecutor with the Greenup County Attorney’s Office, where she worked on guardianships, juvenile cases, and matters involving dependency, neglect, and abuse. At the same time, she maintained a private practice handling litigation, probate, and wills—giving her a well-rounded perspective on the challenges families face both inside and outside the courtroom.
In 2023, Alyssa narrowed her focus to estate planning, elder law, and probate after seeing firsthand how proper planning can make all the difference. She has witnessed families thrive when thoughtful plans were in place—and she has also seen the difficulties that arise when they were not, including guardianships, financial strain for families, and painful disputes among loved ones. Today, she is dedicated to helping her clients protect what matters most and bring peace of mind to their families through clear, compassionate planning.
She is an active member of the Elder Law and the Probate and Trust Law Sections of the Kentucky Bar Association. Locally, she also serves her community through the Ashland Rotary Club.
Outside of her practice, Alyssa enjoys playing golf, cheering on her husband Brett—a local educator and coach—from the stands, and spending time with their beloved goldendoodle, Hogan.
